Objects and Activities

I. OBJECT

1. To advance the education of young persons in music by: a. providing financial support for young individuals engaged in music education and/or musical activity organised on a countywide basis as defined by the geographical area of Kent; b. providing financial support to supplement funding for youth musical group activity organized on a countywide basis within the said area; c. promoting the cause of youth musical activity.

II.    ACTIVITIES IN FURTHERANCE OF THE OBJECT

1. to raise funds by: a. seeking grants and donations from individuals, corporate donors, charities and grant-making bodies; b. supporting the organising of fund-raising concerts or other events. 2. to disburse funds by making grants to young individuals of 21 years of age or less, and students in full-time musical education of 23 years old or less who are: a. through financial disadvantage likely to be denied access to appropriate music education and/or musical activity and b. eligible by being resident in Kent or Medway or receiving school education in Kent or Medway or c. participating in the musical activity as defined under 1. Object i above, and by making grants to youth group musical activity as defined under 1 Object ii above. 3. to promote the cause of youth musical activity by a. the advocacy of spoken or written words b. the provision of opportunities for musical performance by young people. The Trustees agreed on 16th May 2006 that 'there should be a degree of flexibility in interpreting our Object (I, ii and iii) and Activities (1, 2 and 3) so that individuals were not excluded from consideration for reasons of disability and/ or music specialisation.
